The British indie studio Grey Alien Games has released a new chapter for its horror card game. Forbidden Solitaire: The Discarded launched on Steam on October 26, 2026, in a collaboration with Night Signal Entertainment. Grey Alien Games’ press kit says the two-person team is based in Bridport, United Kingdom, and has made downloadable PC games since 2004. The new release is downloadable content, or DLC, rather than a separate full game. It gives players who already own Forbidden Solitaire another reason to return to its strange mix of card play, computer-history fiction and horror.
The story takes place in 2020 and follows Robyn Cierra as she searches through hidden files on a cursed 1995 CD-ROM linked to grisly events. The developers frame the disc as a graveyard of unfinished or abandoned material, with a museum-like world built from things that should have stayed deleted. The central mystery is personal: Robyn believes her sister may still be saved. That premise gives the expansion a more story-driven focus than a simple collection of new card tables, while keeping the game’s deliberately old-fashioned computer imagery at its centre.
Steam lists 30 new levels, an otherworldly museum, new enemies, puzzles and bosses, plus extra upgrades and jokers. The developers describe the plot as a tragic demonic love story, so the card battles are part of a larger horror adventure rather than a standalone puzzle pack. Steam lists it as an indie strategy release, with user tags such as horror and card game. The expansion may appeal to players who enjoy solitaire rules but want strange files, unsettling rooms and a little dark humour. As with the base game, it is single-player and aimed at an adult audience; Steam warns of violence, gore, suicide depictions and strong language.
There is one important practical detail: The Discarded requires the base game Forbidden Solitaire on Steam. At the time of research, Steam listed the paid DLC at US$7.99, and its minimum system requirements name Windows 10. The price may vary by country or change later, so buyers should check the store page before purchasing. The expansion does not include or replace the base game, so players need to own both items to play it. If you already own the original game, the new chapter is available now; if not, you will need both the base game and the expansion. That distinction helps avoid the common surprise of buying downloadable content that cannot run by itself.
If a Windows computer has trouble launching the game, updating Steam, or installing the required base title and DLC, KOTIK can provide remote IT support to check the setup and help install the game. If Windows or another program is malfunctioning, KOTIK can also help with remote reinstallation, with backup included. Support is offered in English and in other European languages with translation assistance. We speak your language!
